Mission accomplished in the boatyard in Key West! We got the bottom painted today. It was an 11-hour marathon. We started at 8 AM, prepped the boat, and got it ready for painting by 10. Then we took a little break and started painting around 11.
It took us three hours to paint the first coat. Afterward, we took a 30-minute break for some lunch. Then, it was back to work with another three and a half hours to paint the second coat. Finally, we spent another hour cleaning up, pulling the tape off, and cleaning all the tools. It was a long day, starting at 8 AM and finishing just before 7 PMâprobably closer to 6:30.
Tomorrow, all we have to do is paint the trim tabs, which will take a few hours but won't be nearly as tough as doing the whole bottom of the boat. There's light at the end of the tunnel because Monday we splash! Our last day on the hard will be tomorrow.
